Robert Scoble interviews Dr. Elliot Soloway from the University of Michigan. What they talk about is the state of education and how he sees it being improved. Soloway's quite passionate. He started a company, GoKnow Learning, although they don't talk about that much, focusing instead on the changes that are coming to education due to technologies like the cell phone.

Some comments include:

  • Trying to change higher ed is more impossible than changing K-12.
  • Mobile computing is what kids are doing nowdays anyhow.
  • It is going to be 100% very shortly. Every kid is going to have a cel phone. They are doing it outside of school, so why don't we do it inside school?
  • It is not the laptop computer, but the cell phone that is going to change everything.
  • Schools will accept cell phones and that will be the tool.
  • The cell phone is going to be the leveler. Because every kid is going to have a cell phone. The cell phone is going to be very powerful. Now we have to understand how to help the kids use it. The cell phone per se is not going to do it... A community will emerge around it.
